I absolutely loved this piece of writing. You have written beautifully and accurately about your Zebra Doves who's behavour, nest building, sex lives and attempted procreation totally mirrors the majority of our Wood Pigeons in the UK.

We spend hours watching their courtships which usually end in failed or abandoned nests and scattered broken eggs around the garden. I saw recently the male attempting to bring a twig to the nest which was at least 40cm long, he failed of course. So how come they are so prolific? They must be doing something right or just keep at it.
